Plagiarism-checking Services

To improve the level of academic research, establish a sense of academic integrity, and abide by academic norms, the Library provides plagiarism-checking services for Chinese-written theses & dissertations, as well as English-written articles, theses & dissertations to students.

　Plagiarism-checking services for Chinese-written theses & dissertations　

1. Plagiarism Checking System

The Library uses “TMLC” of CNKI to detect plagiarism.

2. Workflow

Please login to Tronclass > “Service application”, upload your file on “Plagiarism-checking services for Chinese-written theses & dissertations” and submit application form. Students will receive an email notification for payment; please return to “Service application” > “My application”and proceed payment via payment link. An email notification will be sent to student's email after the check is completed; please return to the application form to download the plagiarism report.

*Friendly reminder: Plagiarism-checking fee can be paid once a day. If you have payment issues, please send your name and student ID to lib@cityu.edu.mo for further handling.

3. Time

The plagiarism report shall be provided in the order of submission within 5 working days. We do not provide urgent service for maintaining the fairness and justice.

4. Charge

Students are required to pay MOP150 each time. For mainland students, please use WeChat Pay, and for non-mainland students, please use online banking to pay.

5. Requirements

5.1 Please submit the complete thesis or dissertation, including cover page, table of content, abstract, main research content, acknowledgement, appendices (if any), references, etc

5.2 Please submit the file in Word format.

6. Important Notes

6.1 The submitted thesis or dissertation for plagiarism detection must be in full content. If the similarity score is affected due to the incompetence of required content, students must take full responsibility and there will be no refund.

6.2 Please note that the self-paid plagiarism report serves as a reference only. The plagiarism report provided by Faculty and Graduate School is the final report of the application for thesis defense.

　Plagiarism-checking services for English-written articles, theses & dissertations　

1. Plagiarism Checking System

Turnitin is used to detect plagiarism. The service is free of charge and the time of submission is unlimitied by the course expired date.

2. Account Activation

Library has set up Turnitin account for graduate students. A verification email from Turnitin is sent to your university email. Please follow the instructions to complete the account settings. When setting up an account, please fill in your university email address “student ID @cityu.mo”, and your last name in uppercase.

3. Workflow

Please click https://www.turnitin.com to login. You will see the courses and assignment created by the library for you. In the assignment page, you can submit papers by clicking“Submit”. After a successful upload, you can refresh and check the similarity result in the assignment interface. Please click here for more information.

4. Requirements

4.1 File types：Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, OpenOffice (ODT), Hangul (HWP), Google Docs, and plain text

4.2 Maximum file size is 100MB and file must be less than 800 pages

5. Important Notes

5.1 Similarity Report will not generate immediately right after submission. It may take 1-2 hours to generate report for the first 3 submission. Please note that the Similarity Report will generate after 24 hours from 4th resubmission.

5.2 Turnitin is mainly used for English-written documents, and similarity check of Chinese-written articles only serves as reference
