Opening Ceremony of City University of Macau Library

On 15th December, 2015, City University of Macau Library launched. Professor Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of City University of Macau, officiated the opening ceremony. In the ceremony, Mr. Teng Sio Hong, Acting Director of Tertirary Education Services Office and Dr. Cao Jinfeng, General Secretary of Administrative Council of Macao Foundation unveiled the plague for City University of Macau Library. Also attending the ceremony were Dr. Oscar Chan, Director of Macau Institute of Management; Mr Kevin Lei, Deputy Director and Acting Registrar of Macau Institute of Management; and the Librarians of Macau Central Library, Library of Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic Institute Library, University of Saint Joseph Library, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau Library; and the representative of Institute for Tourism Studies Library.

Rector Zhang expressed thanks to Macau Special Administrative Region Government, Macao Foundation and Tertiary Education Services Office for the continuous support, so City University of Macau Library can be successfully launched. He stated that the library collection is rich and by introducing the concept of Learning Commons and through Internet technology and communication, an open and amiable library is created to provide students with a comfortable and flexible study area.

City University of Macau Library covers an area of 3,600 m2 and there are more than 300 seats in the library. City University of Macau dedicates to expand its library collection. The collection is expected to reach 100, 000 books. The university library is a member of Macau Academic Library Alliance, which is a cooperation and resource sharing scheme among libraries in Macau. This scheme provides an inter-library loan service to the faculty members and students of CityU. Moreover, the free service from Macau Academic Library Alliance E-Resources Center allows research development. City University of Macau Library will introduce new technology from home and abroad to provide quality service to the library users.
